Report Date: 2020-04-12
Location of Work: Bilgram, Hardoi
State: Uttar Pradesh
Team Members involved: Shanti Kushwaha and Vipul Singh
Work details:
Daily wage labourers are probably the worst affected by the lockdown. They suffer from hunger and a lack of sanitised environments as well, and this has been the case in the village of Bilgram in Hardoi, UP.  Nagaloka has provided provisions to the NTI alumbi in UP to locate and help families with the necessary rations. Shanti and Vipul have been arranging and distributing all the rations themselves, and have gotten help from their families for packing all the food provisions.

Beneficiaries Quantity: 18 families
Beneficiaries Details: Daily wage labourers
Remarks:

It is heartbreaking to see the terrible conditions of people in rural areas. They are depressed that they have nothing, and can only ask, “क्या किया जाए”- meaning ”  what can we do?”.  They are totally locked down at their homes with no work and no resources to survive for long. While we are helping with food provisions, we can give them a bit of relief saying that “कुछ समय के बाद स्थिति सामान्य हो जाएगी |”- meaning that ” time will heal everything”. We are trying to raise awareness about why it is better to be safe and stay at their homes.
