Appeal in brief
There are 10 families belonging to the sweeper community in Siali village, in Mahada, Subarnapur district.
While the women of that community clean the streets of the upper-caste part of the village, as well as the main village market area of Mahada, the men sweep in neighbouring villages and around the district. Sweeping is their sole source of livelihood, apart from some daily labor in paddy fields or odd jobs. This community does not receive any salary from the government. Instead they receive leftover food such as rice as their salary from the upper caste villagers, and that is hardly ever enough to survive on, especially when they are left without any earning sources. The sudden lockdown has severely affected this vulnerable group of people. They are left without access to money, food, and basic necessities.
We would like to request you to please donate Rs. 5570/- to our corona relief fund so that we can distribute food items as early as possible.
